Name: Philip Phifer
Hometown: Portland Oregon
How I Got Started Crafting Beer: When I was 17 years old, I realized that though I could not legally buy beer, I could buy everything that I needed to make beer myself.
Personal Background: After moving to Denver, I decided to give up my traditional career and find a job making beer for a living. I was fortunate to get in with the great Rock Bottom brewers in the Denver area who have facilitated my transition into professional brewing. When I’m not brewing, I enjoy skiing or Alpine Wilderness backpacking and long walks with my lab mutt.
Brewing Philosophy: Use the highest quality ingredients, don’t cut corners and make something for everyone.
Favorite Brew: Something with a lot of Hops, a lot of Malt, or better yet, a lot of Both.
Favorite Quote: “I am generally selfish, but you’ll get used to it.”
Awards:
Rock Bottom, Inc. Awarded Large Brewpub and Large Brewpub Brewer of the Year 2008
Great American Beer Festival®
